Praomys
There are 3 species known from Tanzania: Praomys jacksoni, Praomys melanotus and Praomys taitae. This mouse is a common resident of montane forests. It is commonly confused with Hylomyscus, but has dark colored soles of the hindfeet, no small tuft of hairs on the tip of the tail (which Hylomyscus does) and a longer snout.
