Head of Collections - 2015

Field Museum of Natural History - Zoology - Mammal Collection

Bill grew up in Kenya and has been working on the mammals of Tanzania for the past two decades. Together with Mzee Philip Kihaule and Maiko Munissi (and many other colleagues), Bill has surveyed almost all of the Eastern Arc Mountains and other habitats as well.,,After 25 years of studying the small mammals of Africa, Bill passed away suddenly in 2015 while pursuing his most recent focus, the small mammals of the mountains of Ethiopia. Besides this key to the Mammals of Tanzania, Bill's dedication to this part of the world produced many publications on African small mammals and educational materials for some of the Tanzanian communities he visited.
